Brazilian Surgeon Will Broadcast 1st Live Hair Restoration Surgery to AACS Conference
Join Tempus Hair Restoration and Dr. Marco N. Barusco as he furthers cosmetic surgery education with a live-broadcasted hair transplant surgery during the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery’s Scientific Meeting in January.
The live broadcast will be part of the Scientific Meeting’s pre-conference sessions, on January 14.
The event is being organized by Dr. Barusco and the surgery will broadcast from Tempus Hair Restoration’s office in Port Orange, Fla., to the conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The surgery is expected to last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will follow Dr. Barusco and his Tempus team in the entirety of a hair transplant procedure, from the pre-operative considerations and harvesting of the hair follicles, to site creation and graft placement. The doctor plans to demonstrate both the strip and FUE methods of hair restoration. The operation is intended to be an interactive event between the conference audience and Tempus team.
“We’re going to have a live microphone, so the audience there can ask questions as we’re showing the procedure,” said Dr. Barusco.
In the afternoon, the pre-conference will feature lectures and panel discussions. The live feed of the surgery will continue with updates and more Q&A sessions taking place in between lectures. The live surgery will give conference attendees a new learning medium outside of the regular lectures.
“The idea of the live surgery is something I pitched, because, well, lectures are lectures, but it would be helpful to see an actual procedure,” said Dr. Barusco.
Even so, Dr. Barusco finds lectures important, and Scientific Meeting attendees can expect lectures held by the doctor in other sessions of the five-day conference.
