Beverly Hills Hair Transplant Doctor Receives Prestigious Award for Excellence in the Art of Transplants

Beverly Hills Hair Transplant Doctor Receives Prestigious Award for Excellence in the Art of Transplants

With a hair restoration practice that is already internationally recognized as a leader in the art of hair transplants, Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration is a proud recipient of the Center of Clinical Excellence for ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplantation.

This prestigious honor is only awarded to the Top 10 hair transplant practices across the United States.

To commemorate their status as a Center of Clinical Excellence for ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplantation, Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration received a beautiful award from ARTAS to symbolize their continued expertise in performing hair transplants.

By combining ARTAS hair restoration and manual FUE techniques, Dr. Mohebi and his staff offer patients some of the most advanced hair restoration procedures available anywhere.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the process of individually harvesting hair follicle grafts directly from a patient’s donor areas.

The staff at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration has further refined and improved the procedure through the use of the ARTAS System. ARTAS uses an image-guided robot arm, as well as special imaging software, to harvest a patient’s follicular grafts more precisely (r-FUE).

According to Dr. Mohebi, “Robotic hair restoration has significantly advanced in the last two years to the point where it can provide the same quality grafts that we get using other devices.

The ARTAS System can remove more than 2000 grafts in a day.

The number is expected to improve as new software updates happen in the coming months which will allow us to extract even more in a shorter time period.”

Some of the advantages of having an r-FUE procedure, instead of the more traditional FUE procedure method, include increased graft survival as well as reduced harvesting time.

Undergoing an r-FUE procedure, rather than a strip hair transplant, allows for even greater graft harvesting precision and less damage to the follicles. ARTAS utilizes a system of several cameras allowing for microscopic video images to be recorded.

The images of the patient’s follicular units allows for identification of donor hair on the sides of the scalp and the back of the head.

By utilizing the ARTAS System to enhance the artistic touch employed during hair transplant procedures, the use of r-FUE by Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration offers an incredibly effective hair restoration procedure to the public.

About Dr. Parsa Mohebi:

As former chairman of the FUE Research Committee and creator of several methods and techniques in modern hair restoration, Dr. Mohebi, along with his incredible staff, provides the most advanced techniques in the industry.

Dr. Mohebi prides himself in advancing new research and developing the latest technology to improve the quality of hair restoration.

The overall goal at his office is to restore patient’s self-esteem through the use of quality hair restoration techniques.

Aesthetic Surgery Journal

The Aesthetic Surgery Journal Publishes Groundbreaking Study on Nape Hair For FUE Hair Transplantation

The Aesthetic Surgery Journal Publishes Groundbreaking Study on Nape Hair For FUE Hair Transplantation

The number one Aesthetic Surgery publication in the world has published an article featuring a study by Dr. Sanusi Umar that proved more men and women are able achieve more softer looking natural hairlines than what was previously made possible through conventional surgical approaches.

The Aesthetic Surgery Journal article, written by Dr. Umar, features results from the use of nape and peri-auricular Follicular Unit Extraction ( FUE ) method of hair transplantation which may potentially change the way hair transplants are conducted, allowing patients to achieve even greater levels of realistic detail.

The publication titled “Use of Nape and Peri- Auricular Hair By FUE to Create Soft Hairlines and Temples”, discusses the findings from Dr. Umar’s research study on 128 male patients.

These findings shed light on new information which supports a new view that in selected candidates, finer grafts from the nape and areas close to the ears can indeed serve as a viable resource for hair restoration surgery and a tool for creating more natural looking softer hairlines that would be more difficult to detect as transplanted hairlines.

Modern hair transplantation has come a long way in being able to create remarkably inconspicuous results.

Yet, with conventional methods, there are still limitations in being able to render the gradual thicknesses of hair found in natural hairlines.

The majority of surgeons around the world rely on grafts taken exclusively from the middle of the back and sides of the head. Without much study to support doing so.

Doctors have long avoided the use of thinner hairs located outside of this narrow zone (called the Safe Donor Area – SDA), fearing that they would not survive long term.

However, hairs from this “SDA” zone are the thickest of hairs in the entire scalp and when used to create hairline by hair transplantation tend to impart harsher, pluggier and unnatural look to the dissatisfaction of discerning patients, who expect and prefer a more natural and softer hairline.

This challenge to conventionally created hairline is further heightened in women whose hairlines requires a larger transition zone of softness, temple areas, as well as certain demographic groups such as most patients of East Asians descent whose scalp hairs are typically thicker relative to other demographic groups.

Although nape hair (hair from the area below the SDA to a line abutting the neck) and the peri-auricular hair (hair found just above the ears) are typically the thinnest hairs in the scalp and hence a better fit for crafting a softer more natural looking hairlines and temples in hair transplantation; they have not been utilized to assuage the problem of unnatural hairline created by conventional hair transplantation for fear of future loss.

Thus in conventionally created hairlines, coarser SDA hairs can appear quite noticeable, and even out of place, compared to the soft progression of natural hairlines, where finer hairs along the outer edge graduate to thicker ones towards the back.

Summary of the Nape Hair Study

Between November 2006 and November 2011, Dr. Umar performed FUE hair transplants in 128 patients using a specialized punch tool (UPunch®) which is part of an FUE technology he developed himself known as the UGraft Revolution™. His instrumentation is designed to create uniquely configured extractions that avoid typical forms of graft damage associated with conventional FUE transplant punches which are better suited for straighter hairs. Additionally it imparts a relatively better cosmetic wound healing outcomes standards due to the way it has been engineered.

In the study, nape and periauricular follicles (NPA) were used to recreate the softer vanguard hairs along the outer perimeter of the hairline and temples.

The potential for long term survival of these finer hairs was determined by newly described test (The FUE Shave Test) by Dr Umar. In the test, subjects had their heads shaved into crew cuts. In those destined to become severely bald (Norwood 7’s), clear lines of demarcation are revealed, marking the final wreath of hair around the lower portions of the scalp.

However, most men do not display this trait. And the participants without this line could then qualify for hair transplantation using soft nape and peri-auricular hair. In most of these candidates, the study findings supports that in most qualified candidates, NPA grafts resulted in soft natural looking hairlines that remain intact in the long term.

About 2.3 years following surgery, 91 of the 128 subjects (71%) responded to a follow up survey, expressing a high rate of satisfaction with their results. Furthermore, to investigate for longevity of NPA graft results, a 2nd survey was sent to at an average of 4.6 years after surgery. The majority of those who responded to this longevity survey gave an average rating of of 8.5/10 on their continued satisfaction with their results.

Significance of Study – Hair Transplantation Takes Yet Another Leap Forward

1.    SOFTER NATURAL LOOKING HAIRLINES

Until about the late 80s, hair restoration procedures had been conducted using large 42mm sized punches, creating pluggy, doll-like hair.

With more recent methods like strip surgery and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), much smaller grafts came to be used.

These consisted of naturally occurring clusters of 2-4 haired follicles. However, both forms of surgery have long depended on hairs from the middle of the back of the head which naturally typically contain the thickest caliber hairs in in the scalp.

Despite best efforts, these hairs even when planted in singles have often resulted in relatively harsher looking pluggy hairlines leading to tell tale signs that onlookers can pick up often to the discomfort of the patients. “This is a less talked about yet vexing issue in hair transplantation” says Dr Umar.

Since the hairline sits above the eyes and it is the most noticeable aspect of a person’s hair from a social perspective.

The study represents thus, a new stride in the evolution of hair restoration, allowing patients to enjoy the satisfaction of possessing more realistic and truly natural looking hairlines.

2.     INCREASED DONOR POOL

According to Dr Umar, “the entire NPA area in suitable candidates (patients passing the FUE SHAVE TEST he described in the study) can yield anywhere between 1500 to 3000 grafts lifetime supply. In such patients, FUE practitioners can conceivable utilize most hairs that lie outside the so-called SDA, such as the parietal areas of the scalp (closer to the temples). This translates to 3000 to 4500 lifetime donor supply in addition to what was achievable using conventional SDA grafts alone.”

The study supports a new view and challenges the long held unproven belief that only thicker hairs in a narrow band of skin in the middle of the back of the scalp can be used for transplantation.

The following video depicts one of the patients presented in the study. Using hair from the nape area, Dr Umar corrected his sharp widow’s peak hairline by FUE using his UPunch® and UGraft™ technology.

Four years later, the patient is still enjoying a very natural and soft hairline, proving that use nape and peri-auricular hair in patients qualified by the FUE Shave Test is long lasting.

FUE Transplants Easier to Understand Thanks to New Book Featuring Contributions from Dr. Parsa Mohebi

Dr. Parsa Mohebi, an internationally recognized hair transplant surgeon, is pleased to announce his writing contribution to the new textbook, “Hair Transplant 360 Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Volume 4” (now available from Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishing).

Dr. Mohebi contributed to the textbook by authoring a chapter examining and explaining FUE terminology.

The chapter spotlights the terms involved in the daily tools and techniques utilized in FUE transplant procedures.

The publication of “Hair Transplant 360 Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Volume 4” represents the completion of a project spanning two years and four volumes.

The textbook also represents the only major textbook ever written on FUE.

“Hair Transplant 360 Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Volume 4” is the first comprehensive book examining the subject of FUE.

While there are various hair transplant procedures available to the public, FUE is one of the fastest growing areas in the field of hair restoration.

The publication of this textbook showcases the benefits of FUE and also provides insights into its terminology and technique.

When asked about FUE earlier this year, Dr. Mohebi outlined some of the advantages of the FUE procedure. “If you want to shave your head at any point in your life, you will probably want to do a FUE procedure that removes the grafts one at a time and does not leave a long scar in the back.

If you do not want to have a scar, FUE is the answer.”

Dr. Mohebi, a Los Angeles based hair transplant surgeon, is an expert not only in the field of regular FUE but also Celebrity FUE Transplant.

This is a limited FUE hair transplant procedure gaining popularity among celebrities who wish to keep their hair transplants anonymous.

Dr. Mohebi’s expert skills in the field of FUE transplants made him the ideal contributor to explain FUE terminology in a textbook aimed at both experienced physicians and newcomers to the field.

About Dr. Parsa Mohebi:

As former chairman of the FUE Research Committee and creator of several methods and techniques in modern hair restoration, Dr. Mohebi, along with his incredible staff, provides the most advanced techniques in the industry.

Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration Announces an Immediate Expansion of Their Open House Series

The growing interest in the art of hair restoration is such that Dr. Parsa Mohebi is proud to announce the expansion of his upcoming Open House into an ongoing series of events.

Originally planned as a one time event in October, the demand for information from patients wanting to learn more about hair transplants has created an ongoing series of Open Houses at Dr. Mohebi’s state of the art offices in Encino, California.

Patients not sure where to begin learning more about hair transplants will get an up close and personal look during the Open House.

Patients will have the opportunity to watch a live hair transplant while also getting their questions answered by the doctor and previous patients.

One of the motivating factors behind the Open House series is showing patients how much hair transplant procedures have advanced over the past few years.

According to Dr. Mohebi, “We are committed to holding these Open Houses on a regular basis.

Those interested in having a hair transplant can not only see our real patients but they can witness a live surgery and talk to the previous patients who have had the procedure.” Dr. Mohebi went on to explain that the chance to see quality work and results is vital and is what he would expect if he was the person getting a hair transplant.

Dr. Mohebi and his staff appreciate the level of perfection desired by both their present and future patients.

The interest in hair transplantation procedures continues to grow. According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), the year 2014 saw 397,048 hair transplantation procedures performed.

This is an increase of 28% over their previous biannual survey in 2012. The demand for more information about the science behind, as well as the results of, hair transplant procedures has led Dr. Mohebi to create his Open House series to educate patients.

Patients interested in more than Internet research and watching online videos are welcome to attend the next Open House event on October 8th from 5pm-7pm in Encino.

They can meet Dr. Mohebi and his staff as well as actual patients.

There are more Open House events scheduled for the coming months.

A complete list of dates can be found here.

FUE hair transplant

Rising Demand of FUE Hair Transplant with PRP Therapy

FlyHealth Launches FUE Hair Transplant Surgery Package with PRP Treatment for International Patients

Now that thousands of people are having hair transplant surgery, FlyHealth reports that FUE hair transplant surgery alone is not enough to achieve the best outcome; therefore, they have launched a new FUE hair transplant package which includes platelet-rich plasma treatment, shortly known as PRP, to facilitate faster hair growth and quicker recovery.

Hair loss affects people suffering from it significantly. Hair loss causes not only emotional problems but also psychological problems which result in the loss of self-confidence.

It may even bring about a severe depression in some cases.

That is why increasing number of people are undergoing hair transplants each year.

Due to the high costs of hair transplantation elsewhere, Turkey has become a popular destination for international hair transplant patients thanks to the lower costs and eminent surgeons.

FlyHealth, a well-known medical travel facilitator in Europe, has been assisting patients with their medical travel to Turkey.

A new hair transplant package of FlyHealth ensures that patients have comfortable and trustworthy experiences. The package includes FUE hair transplant procedure with unlimited grafts, PRP treatment, medications, hotel accommodation and free city tour.

FlyHealth’s hair transplant surgeon stated:

“The success of FUE hair transplant depends on the ability to keep hair follicles healthy after the extraction so that they can be transplanted successfully without any loss of grafts.

That is why, PRP treatment is of absolute importance since it increases the durability of hair follicles after extraction and makes them stronger.

Modern hair transplant methods should definitely include PRP treatment alongside FUE but unfortunately many clinics do not offer PRP since it may be time consuming and financially demanding.

We differentiate ourselves from the others by offering the best possible treatment for our international patients. Therefore, we always perform PRP treatment as well”

Having successfully treated hundreds of British and Dutch patients so far, FlyHealth aims to expand its network into other countries in Europe and tap into the Middle East market in the coming months.

FlyHealth’s Case Manager, Ozge Kaymak indicated that: “Most of the patients emphasize that they want all the extracted grafts to be used during the process without any loss of grafts and they want a quick recovery. This is only possible with PRP treatment.

For that reason, we have decided to offer our hair transplant patients the essential PRP treatment as well for the best surgical outcome.”

About FlyHealth

Registered with the Companies House in the Netherlands (Registration No:62557750), FlyHealth is a leading medical travel company offering top quality service for international patients travelling to Turkey.

Watch a Live Hair Transplant at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration’s Open House

Patients who thought about getting a hair transplant but were not sure where to start from and those who are interested in learning more about the procedure beyond the information found on the Internet can attend the open house event by Dr. Parsa Mohebi.

Internationally recognized hair transplant surgeon Parsa Mohebi will be on hand to answer patients hair transplant questions at his next Open House event.

Join Dr. Mohebi on Thursday, October 8th from 5pm-7pm at his state of the art hair restoration facility in Encino.

Do not miss this opportunity to interact with Dr. Mohebi and learn more about the art of hair transplants.

During the Open House, patients will have the chance to watch a live hair transplant as well as learn more about the art of hair transplants from the doctor and his staff.

A number of former patients will also be on hand to discuss their experiences.

According to Dr. Mohebi, “Many patients are anxious to restore their hair but they have seen people with older detectable hair transplants and pluggy hairlines. We understand their concerns and value the level of perfectionism they desire from a hair transplant.

For that reason, we are committed to holding these open houses on a regular basis. Those interested in having a hair transplant can not only see our real patients but they can witness a live surgery and talk to the patient having the procedure.

They should have the chance to talk with someone who had a procedure as well as touch and run their fingers through the final results on a real patient.

They must be able to see quality work because that is what I would expect to see if I were to get a hair transplant myself.”

Patients should let a lack of knowledge about hair transplants keep them from making the change they want to see in their hairline.
